Behind the Cover: Thor & Daredevil - Marko Djurdjevic

This guy has done some great stuff.

In many ways, Djurdjevic set a new standard for Marvel, stunning fans with his spectacular eye for realism. We remember when the first covers for Blade and X-Men: First Class were shown - our jaws dropped.

From there the digital painter has moved to Daredevil, Thunderbolts and numerous other franchises (be sure to check out the “collection” of his covers below - it’s already missing a few due to the volume of work he produces). However one character in particular is setting a bit of a milestone for Djurdjevic - Thor.

Must Read: The Twenty Science Fiction Novels that Will Change Your Life

Writing by Chris on Thursday, 28 of February , 2008 at 8:54 pm

I’ve only read and enjoyed a few of these.  Some sound interesting. Some just sound… weird.

Must Read: The Twenty Science Fiction Novels that Will Change Your Life

Wizard (1979), by John Varley
A schizophrenic man falls in love with a centaur who has three sets of
genitals and lives inside a giant cyborg in orbit around Saturn. You
want to change your perspective on the world? This book will do it for
you.

Perdido Street Station (2002), by China Mieville
Set in on a planet where a strange weather system called The Torque periodically destroys the fabric of reality, Perdido Street Station is about a scientist, a man who has lost his wings, a woman with an insect head, and a city full of people whose dreams are being eaten by moths. As the dreamless city slowly goes insane, only the scientist can stop the moths — with the help of a sentient garbage heap and a cross-dimensional spider who loves wordplay. Nothing can truly capture the sublime beauty and weirdness of a Mieville novel. But it might change your life.

Writing by Chris on Thursday, 28 of February , 2008 at 5:40 pm

OK, this movie is slowly growing on me.  The new trailer made me laugh.

Apple - Trailers - Get Smart - HD

n the all-new action comedy “Get Smart,” Maxwell Smart (Steve Carell) is on a mission to thwart the latest plot for world domination by the evil crime syndicate known as KAOS. When the headquarters of U.S. spy agency Control is attacked and the identities of its agents compromised, the Chief (Alan Arkin) has no choice but to promote his ever-eager analyst Maxwell Smart, who has always dreamt of working in the field alongside stalwart superstar Agent 23 (Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson). Smart is partnered instead with the only other agent whose identity has not been compromised: the lovely-but-lethal veteran Agent 99 (Anne Hathaway).

What $1 Million Buys In Homes Across The U.S.

Writing by Chris on Thursday, 14 of February , 2008 at 6:39 pm

I can’t imagine how much money I would have to have to make some of these sound reasonable.

What $1 Million Buys In Homes Across The U.S. - Forbes.com

Stick to Manhattan, and your bucks will bag you a 611-square-foot one-bedroom apartment, close to the East River with views of the city, the bridges, Brooklyn and Queens, and access to a pool, garden and spa–but almost a mile from the nearest subway stop.

Do We Really Want Another Black President After The Events Of Deep Impact?

Writing by Chris on Wednesday, 13 of February , 2008 at 1:20 pm

I hadn’t considered that.  Maybe we should reconsider.

Do We Really Want Another Black President After The Events Of Deep Impact?

I’m not suggesting that President Freeman was directly responsible for the creation of the Wolf-Beiderman comet or its Earth-bound path. That would be ridiculous. What I am saying is that under the watch of a black man that comet destroyed the entire Eastern seaboard. So, if history is any indicator, a vote for Barack Obama in 2008 is essentially a vote for the complete and total obliteration of the human race.
