Norton to star in ‘Hulk’

Writing by Chris on Monday, 16 of April , 2007 at 9:00 am

What’s up with real actors doing comic roles now? What happened to the old days of washed up actors and newbies with questionable talent? I blame Christian Bale.

Edward Norton has been set by Marvel Studios to play Bruce Banner in “The Incredible Hulk.”

The Louis Leterrier-directed drama will be distributed by Universal Pictures, with an opening set for June 13, 2008.

Conan O’Brien’s Commencement Speech - Harvard 2000

Writing by Chris on Monday, 16 of April , 2007 at 8:29 am

He can be funny, but the show just doesn’t seem to support that idea lately.

I’d like to thank the Class Marshals for inviting me here today. The last time I was invited to Harvard it cost me $110,000, so you’ll forgive me if I’m a bit suspicious. I’d like to announce up front that I have one goal this afternoon: to be half as funny as tomorrow’s Commencement Speaker, Moral Philosopher and Economist, Amartya Sen. Must get more laughs than seminal wage/price theoretician.

A nation’s youth all thumbs with PCs

Writing by Chris on Sunday, 15 of April , 2007 at 8:27 am

I love my mobile, but come on.

Accessing the internet on Japan’s mobile phones has become so fast and easy that many young people have forsaken computers.

Between 2000 and 2006, the proportion of Japanese 20-year-olds using home PCs to access the internet plummeted from 23.6 per cent to 11.9 per cent, according to figures released by Net Ratings and published in Facta online.

This means 20-year-olds now make up the same proportion of the total as 50-year-olds.

[Webcomic] Brat-Halla - Scans Daily

Writing by Chris on Thursday, 12 of April , 2007 at 3:45 pm

I really feel I have to add another Webcomic to my list now.

From the website: Brat-halla follows the misadventures of the Norse gods during their elementary school days. The God of Thunder’s a runt, the God of Mischief plays with dolls, and the God of War’s a pacifist… how did this pantheon survive puberty? Find out here every Wednesday and Friday.

Lords of the Rhymes

Writing by Chris on Thursday, 12 of April , 2007 at 1:39 pm

That’s just not right.

This is the first music video by the Lords of the Rhymes. The Lords are two hobbits who rap about Middle-earth and ring lore. The video contains a variety of costumes and references to the Red Book of Westmarch. Warning: The video also contains explicit language and very, very hot elf girls!! (as well as Leonard

Goyer’s Super Max film to tackle DCU villains

Writing by Chris on Monday, 9 of April , 2007 at 9:51 am

I like the idea, except for one thing.

Called Super Max, Goyer’s take focuses on a wrongly convicted Green Arrow, who’s sent to a special maximum-security prison for super-powered criminals. There, he has to face some of the inmates.

They should use Black Lightning instead, since:

  1. He is already in prison for a crime he didn’t commit.
  2. He actually has powers.
  3. A brother needs work too.

Breakfast of the Gods

Writing by Chris on Friday, 6 of April , 2007 at 1:42 pm

Wait. A “Watmen-esque parody starring breakfast cereal mascots”? I’m there.

For instance, Sugar Bear.

He’s the ultimate Rat Pack-esque cool dude. Very laid-back. But there were commercials in the ’80s where eating his own cereal would cause him to bulk up as the super-powerful “Super Bear.” Anyone versed in comics could see how this is potentially (for Sugar Bear) unpleasant — that there’s this ultra-powerful, violent “beast” inside him ready to burst out. Very Hulk-like or Wolverine-like. And suddenly, you have a character arc for this lovable mascot for Super Sugar Crisp (now “Super Golden Crisp”).
