SXSW Review: Severance

Writing by Chris on Tuesday, 20 of March , 2007 at 3:41 pm

Now I really want to see this movie.

The second-half mayhem parade! And let’s just say that Severance has three or four sequences that you’ll definitely be talking about as you leave the back of the theater. (Keep an eye out for the pie, the bear, the hatchet and the rocket launcher.)

Xbox 360 Elite: new, black limited edition Xbox with HDMI and 120GB drive

Writing by Chris on Tuesday, 20 of March , 2007 at 3:23 pm

I’ve been thinking about getting a 360. Maybe I’ll wait and either by the elite, or buy a used while one when people start dumping them on eBay and trading them in at Gamestop.

  • Elite will cost $479, and will be a 3rd SKU; it will be sold alongside Premium and Core packs.
  • Eventually Elite hardware (in white plastics) will take the role of the Xbox Premium. That is to say, after the Elite is launched and sold out, future Xbox Premiums will have 120GB / HDMI.

Themes for Google Personalized Homepage

Writing by Chris on Tuesday, 20 of March , 2007 at 3:20 pm

Usually I would be against adding unneeded graphics to the Google homepage, but I dig these.

The theme is actually an XML that contains a list of CSS files. Google says that the “theme will dynamically change to match your time of day, including local sunrise and sunset times”, so you have to enter your location. If you look in the XML, you’ll notice a lot of references to the weather, so it’s likely that the theme will change depending on weather, as well.

Deep Fried, Bacon Wrapped, Cheese Filled Hotdog

Writing by Chris on Tuesday, 20 of March , 2007 at 11:21 am

Even I find this a little much.

“It’s like a hot dog flavored donut!” exclaimed Kelly O, who seemed disturbingly wistful while she devoured the log of meat and cheese before referring to it as “Michigan caviar.”

Familiar Characters by Various (different) Authors

Writing by Chris on Tuesday, 20 of March , 2007 at 9:54 am

Its an interesting idea.

Blog@Newsarama » Six is having problems

There’s a pretty impressive challenge out there in the comics community. Lurking Rhythmically started writing a few stories about familiar comic characters if they were written by various authors. Here are a few:

ZAP Releases Drawings of ZAP-X Electric Crossover

Writing by Chris on Tuesday, 20 of March , 2007 at 9:37 am

I’d drive that.

Photo

The compact-SUV design will feature all-wheel drive with in-hub electric motors delivering a combined 644 hp (480 kW) and a top speed of 155 mph. By combining a lightweight aluminum chassis, a new efficient drive system and advanced battery management system, the goal for the ZAP-X is to be able to achieve 350-mile range, with a rapid 10-minute recharging time.

Superman Sequel Canned: Brandon Routh to Star in Justice League Flick Instead?

Writing by Chris on Monday, 19 of March , 2007 at 2:13 pm

I’d
like to see solo movies for the big 3 first, so if we can get a Wonder
Woman movie out first I would be cool with this.  I guess the Linda
Carter show counts for getting people to know who Wonder Women is, but
I would rather see something a little more updated to introduce the
character.

At Sixes & Sevens: Six great comic-book robots

Writing by Chris on Monday, 19 of March , 2007 at 9:55 am

I wouldn’t have picked the same robots, but its a fun list anyway. Here is my favorite description:

Picture this: It’s the psychedelic 1960s. You’re a paraplegic genius with a luxurious beard, fond of calling yourself “The Chief.” You learn the body of a world-famous racecar driver has been destroyed in a crash. What do you do? What do you do? It’s a trick question, of course: You transfer his brain into a robotic body, crafted by Will Magnus! Four decades later, Cliff “Robotman” Steele still has issues with his “new” form, possibly because it’s broken down more times than Tammy Faye. Through the many (confusing) incarnations of the Doom Patrol, the lovable jerk has remained the heart and soul of the team. Think of him as a gold-plated Bender.

About Me

This is it. I'm not looking to become an Internet star, or buy a house off by adsense moneyz. Though I am willing to go with the flow on either.

You may have noticed that I am not a graphic designer. Or a real programmer. Or race car driver, though that may not be as obvious from the site itself. I apologize for any mistakes, ommisions, or eye gouging graphics choices I may have perpetrated on anyone through ths page
