Mel’s new movie sounds interesting, but he looks crazy. And a lot like Saddam.
Mel Gibson says a fascination with ancient cultures and great civilizations is what led him to make his upcoming movie “Apocalypto,†starring unknown Mexican actors speaking in an ancient tongue.

Another discusion on how we are going to manage all the data on the internet.
This kind of tagging allows for the kind of multiple, overlapping associations that the brain itself uses, rather than using rigid categories. Such flexibility in using tags is both good and bad. On one hand we have tags like ‘blog’ and ‘blogs’ appearing as different tags. On the positive side, a photo of a smiling baby might be tagged ‘baby’, ‘happy’ and ‘cute’. So in effect folksonomy produces results that more accurately reflect the population’s conceptual model of the information.

I have several Javascript shortcuts on my Firefox toolbar, and noticed it was getting a little crowded. Blummy is a nice fix for that. It lets you build a customized dropdown with all your “Bookmarklets†on it.
There is an existing database of usefull Javascript bookmarklets on the blummy site, including ones for posting to Wordpress, looking up a Wikipedia entry, Google Page Rank, Blinklist bookmarks, etc.
It’s a kind of drop down menu that consists of small widgets, called blummlets, which can be
customized and make use of Javascript to provide rich functionality (such as bookmarklets).

Deskloops looks interesting. It works somewhat like a vertically scrolling virtual desktop system.
Deskloops does this by arranging windows along a virtual horizontal loop. At any one time, you’ll see window open on screen as usual, but in fact any number of other windows, set on that loop, can be rotated in from left or right. A strip of thumbnails on top of the screen maps the loop’s full content.

Don’t mess with Texas! Wait, go ahead, its cool man.
“The Colony police stumbled across a not so sweet find. They confiscated 22 chocolate bars laced with drugs in the 4600 block of Ridgepointe Drive. Authorities said the chocolate bars contained dried mushrooms, hash and marijuana. The bars are called Nirvana and have a street value of more than $4,000. Two 19-year-olds face numerous charges including possesion of a controlled substance. Investigators said the candy looked like normal candy bars.”

“In honor of the passing of one of America’s most important Civil Rights figures, Rosa Parks, Apple Computer is re-running one of its past “Think Different” ads that featured a historical archive photograph of her riding on a bus.”

There is some gold there.
“Words are described as either Endangered (at risk of falling eternally out of use), Special (unique, either in meaning or in composition), or Fun (a delight to the senses), or some combination thereof. If in fact a word is worthy of being described as Endangered, Special and Fun, then it has achieved the ever elusive and highly coveted E.S.o.F. Hat Trick. It’s nice to have goals.”
